Holyoke Local Cultural Council                  April 7, 2025                                                                                          Present Navae, Tim. Anne, Gloria, Chris F., Rachel Absent Mark, Chris D.                                                           Meeting called to order at 6:47. There were no grantee communications to report.                                Treasurer’s report:  of the $78,109 allocation for 2025, $9,285.99 has been reimbursed and $68,823 is as yet unclaimed. For the 2024 cycle of the $101,905 allocation, $77,481.82 has been reimbursed and $24,463.18 remains unclaimed. Several projects did not happen or paperwork was not submitted and those funds will revert to be regranted  next cycle.  These projects include the Ethnic Studies Block Party, Old Sturbridge Village field trip, and the PVTA shelter project.                                              

Grant reception; Responses are slowly coming in.The menu is set. Anne will ask Tessa to announce at the next city council meeting.  A list of grantees will be available for guests to review.  HLCC community surveys in English and Spanish are being prepared. Chris F. to make QR code.                                                   

HLCC sponsored events: Although not an event we funded, the Spelling Bee benefit for Homework House takes place on May 1 at De La Luz event space. 

Chris F. will be the point person for the St. Pat’s Parade next year. Plans are for the council to march again.                                            

No updates from the Tourism Advisory Committee.                                                                                                A change of dates for the Afro-Caribbean History Project was unanimously approved. Gloria abstained.                                                                                                                                                                Banner discussion: Rachel presented possible designs for a tablecloth and will continue to explore that option.
