INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE FOR PERSONS IN QUARANTINE DUE TO COVID-19

Posted on December 2, 2021

You are receiving this information because you have been identified as being a close contact to someone who has the Covid-19 Virus.

The Covid-19 Virus is spread through respiratory secretions such as mucous droplets from coughing, sneezing and breathing. An infected person may not know that they are shedding the virus because they may not always have symptoms that are noticeable until the virus is very transmissible.

If you have been notified that you were in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid and you have not received a Covid-19 Vaccination, then you are required to quarantine (separate yourself) from other people.

There are three options for ending your quarantine. You may choose the option that you feel comfortable with while continuing to monitor yourself and your symptoms for 14 days.

OPTION 1: SEVEN DAYS OF STRICT QUARANTINE:

Monitor your symptoms and take your temperature daily. Have a Covid-19 test done five days after your exposure.  If the test is negative and you have no symptoms then you can exit your quarantine on day eight. YOU CANNOT USE MEDICATION TO REDUCE YOUR SYMPTOMS. However, you need to continue to monitor yourself up to day 14 after your exposure, continue to wear you mask and socially distance yourself. This means that you are required to stay in your home for 7 days and not have visitors enter your home. Wear a mask while you are in your home if you are around other members of your household. You may leave your home for urgent or medical reasons and again wear a mask if you need to leave. Do not take public transportation, ride share or take a taxi to an appointment.

OPTION 2: TEN DAYS OF STRICT QUARANTINE:

If you have not experience any symptoms 10 days after your exposure you may exit your quarantine on day 11. You will need to continually monitor yourself up to day 14 after your exposure. You will not need to test during this quarantine period. Continue to wear your mask and socially distance yourself. This means that you are required to stay in your home for 10 days and not have visitors enter your home. Wear a mask while you are in your home if you are around other members of your household. You may leave your home for urgent or medical reasons and again wear a mask if you need to leave. Do not take public transportation, ride share or take a taxi to an appointment.

OPTION 3: 14 DAYS OF STRICT QUARANTINE:

You must remain in isolation 14 days if you have experienced any Covid-like symptoms and if you are unwilling to monitor yourself or get tested. This means that you are required to stay in your home for 14 days and not have visitors enter your home. Wear a mask while you are in your home if you are around other members of your household. You may leave your home for urgent or medical reasons and again wear a mask if you need to leave. Do not take public transportation, ride share or take a taxi to an appointment.
