You are required to isolate (separate yourself) from other people because you have been diagnosed or tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) or because you had a high-risk exposure to Covid-19 and now have symptoms.
Even if you have been vaccinated and test positive for the virus you must remain in isolation at your home.
The purpose of the vaccine is to prevent individuals from experiencing more serious symptoms of the virus.
The Covid-19 Virus is spread through respiratory secretions such as mucous droplets from coughing, sneezing and breathing. An infected person may develop serious illness such as pneumonia from the virus and in some rare cases even death.
You must remain in isolation until a public health authority tells you that you can leave your home. The Holyoke Board of Health will confirm when you can leave your home and not be infectious to others. For most patients, this period of required isolation will last approximately 10 days, but may be longer if your symptoms persist.
This means that you are required to stay in your home for 10 days and not have visitors enter your home. Wear a mask while you are in your home if you are around other members of your household. You may leave your home for urgent or medical reasons and again wear a mask if you need to leave. Do not take public transportation, ride share or take a taxi to an appointment.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or use an alcohol-base hand sanitizer that contains 60% alcohol.
Do not share sleeping spaces/bedrooms with anyone. Do not share towels. Clean surfaces of your home with a disinfectant and wear gloves while cleaning.
Remain aware of your health condition. If your symptoms get worse, contact your physician.
