James M. Leahy
Councilor James M. Leahy was born, raised and continues to reside in Holyoke. He is a graduate of Holyoke High School, class of 1992 and of Westfield State University, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. On the City Council he serves as Chair of the Public Service Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee.
Leahy is the Co-Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke, Inc., which is a non-profit that operates one of largest St. Patrick Day parades in the country. This Parade, 10K Road Race and accompanying events are responsible for bringing over 20 million dollars to the economy in the Pioneer Valley every year.
Jim Leahy’s dedication to the growth and success of Holyoke is unmatched. he has also made time to serve on numerous Boards of Directors including: Holyoke Merry Go Round, Boy’s and Girl’s Club of America, Holyoke Youth Soccer, Holyoke Y.M.C.A and Children’s Museum boards.
In 2010, Leahy was recognized by BusinessWest by being selected for the “40 Under Forty” award, which is given annually to 40 people under the age of 40 in Western Massachusetts who have made an impact in their professional career as well as in volunteer capacities. When Leahy isn’t working he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Attorney Eileen Brady Leahy and his three children: Brendan (20), Caroline (18) and Paige (12).
